Association Attributes Editor

Clicking on the "Association Detail" link will display a page for viewing or editing the Association instance attributes [1].

An association may have attributes (binding properties) assigned to it, but it does not have its own "base name*". If needed, the Association (or bond) instance is identified by a numeric code with a # (grid) character. This is how it appears in the name and breadcrumb navigation [2].

The editor page displays tabs for viewing or editing Association Attributes and viewing the history of changes.

Association Attributes editor tabs:

  1. Viewing - for viewing association attributes (without editing)
  2. Edit - for editing Association instances and their Attributes
  3. History - displays a list of recent changes and a list with the history of changes and events related to the Association instance Attributes
Editing the Attributes of an Association Instance

The "Editing" tab [1] (similar to the Viewing tab) contains an area [3] for each of the two roles to display the Association name, the "base name*" of the linked Class instance, and controls to browse the associations and return to the Class instance editor.

Clicking on the link [4] with the Class instance name that forms one side of the association will display the Class instance editor.

A pair of triangle-shaped icons [5] (arrows) allow you to click on an icon to toggle the view of the next (icon on the right) or previous (icon on the left) association (Association instance) set for the instance of the corresponding Class. If an association is displayed at the end or beginning of the association list (for a Class instance), only one icon is displayed with a triangle symbol indicating the direction to scroll through the list.

On the right is a button to return [6] to the association editor of the corresponding Class instance. Clicking on the button displays the Association Editor.

The Association Attributes edit page also displays a set of Attributes (properties or items) [7], similar to the Class instance. The control of the editing fields is very similar: the left part contains the names of the Attributes, the right part contains their values, which can be set if the user has been granted user permissions to do so.

editing the Association attribute:

  1. Association Attributes Edit Tab
  2. Association instance name
  3. View the role of the Association (one side of the binding)
  4. Link to an instance of the bound Class
  5. Icons to toggle the Association instance view for the Class instance
  6. Button to return to the Class instance editor
  7. Set of Association Attributes (Edit Attributes)
  8. Buttons to create a new Association instance or a copy of an existing one
  9. Delete an Association instance

Attributes are organized into folders. Clicking on the hook symbol (triangle hanging) hides or expands the entire contents of the folder. The folders and their settings allow you to make the user interface clearer and customize the display according to the current requirements. See the chapter on folder settings for more information. Items (Attributes) can be edited directly inside the item field, or in the item editor that appears for that item after clicking on the corresponding edit icon, or both. Editing Attributes (items) is described in the chapter on editing Attributes.

Using the "Plus" or "Copy" [8] buttons, you can create a new instance of the Association between the respective instances of the Classes that are set for each role. Either with empty Association attributes or as a copy of the displayed Association including attributes. The option to copy an Association instance is only available for those Associations that have the "Multiple" option set. If the "Multiple" option is not selected for the Association role setting (e.g. 1:n - binding one instance to n instances), the copy icons are inactive.

Association instances are deleted (removed) by clicking on the button with the "x" symbol [9]. After confirming the query from the verification dialog, the association is removed and the Association Editor page for the first of the pair of associations bound by instances of the Class is displayed.

Removing an association can also be done directly from the Class instance editor where the association list is displayed.

Association Instance Attribute History

The History tab displays a summary of recent changes to the Association instance Attributes, along with a table showing a detailed history of changes. The display and control is analogous to the display and control of Class instance history. For a description of the page, see the section on Class Instance History.
